PATH recently announced a reconfiguration of the project (see news release). A key element of the reconfiguration was the elimination of the connection with the Bedington substation, near Martinsburg, W.Va., and the twin-circuit 500-kilovolt lines from Bedington, to Kemptown, Md., including many previously evaluated alternative routes in that area.

The links below feature updated overview and aerial maps with various alternative routes for the project. Routes eliminated due to the reconfiguration are highlighted on the maps. Please note that eliminated routes are located in Regions 6 and 7 of the PATH West Virginia segment of the project and in the Region map for the PATH Allegheny segment.

The PATH team is developing new alternative routes between the mid-point area and Kemptown as part of its comprehensive siting study. The new alternatives will be added to maps on this page when they become available. Additional open houses will be scheduled in areas where the new alternatives are identified.

The specific PATH line route has not been selected. The companies expect to determine the exact proposed route by the first quarter of 2009.
